Even though Madrid enjoyed success under Carlo Ancelotti using the 4-3-3 formation, here in the game to make the best use of the players available in the squad, we will go in with the 4-2-3-1 formation.

Goalkeeper – Iker Casillas

Casillas may find himself out of favour at the moment after a disappointing World Cup, but you will have absolutely no problem in using him to protect your goal in the game. He is rated 86 which is one of the highest for goalkeepers in FIFA 14. Diego Lopez isn’t bad either as he is rated 83, but still the club captain should be your first choice keeper.

Right Back – Daniel Carvajal

This is the only position where you won’t be able to have a player who is not even rated 80. Daniel Carvajal and Alvaro Arbeloa both are rated 77 but Carvajal is much younger and has more pace and stamina than Arbeloa, and that is the reason why he gets the nod. Even in the career mode, among the two, only Carvajal grows.

Centre Backs – Sergio Ramos and Pepe

One of the best central defenders in the game, he is rated at 86 and should always be the first choice CB in any Real Madrid line-up. Also he has a potential to reach 89 in the game if used in the career mode. With a high heading accuracy, you can also get some goals from corner kicks from this Spanish international.

With Pepe you expect a lot of aggression and that’s why that particular trait is rated 92. But we also know that he is an effective centre back. Even though his potential doesn’t grow in the career mode, you have to pick him in the line up over Raphael Varane when you are picking the best rated players.

Left Back – Marcelo

Not many clubs can have the luxury of having two of the top ten left backs in the world in their squad, but that’s exactly what Real Madrid have in the form of Marcelo and Fabio Coentrao. But the Brazilian should be your first choice as he is the second highest rated left back in the entire game only behind England’s Ashley Cole. Marcelo’s rated at 83 with a potential to reach 85 and Coentrao is rated at 79.

Defensive midfielders – Xabi Alonso and Luka Modric

It’s a tight contest between Xabi Alonso and Sami Khedira, but the Spanish international gets the nod with a rating of 85 compared to Khedira’s 84. But if you want a more agile player in that position, then go for the German. Also if you are going to play in career mode, you should again pick Khedira over Alonso since the latter is five years younger.

If there were confusions about Khedira and Alonso, you can be certain of no such thing over this player as Modric is supposed to be one of the first names on the sheet. He is rated 85 in the game and can go upto 88 if played in career mode. He has excellent ball control and vision.

Central Attacking Midfielder – Gareth Bale

People who might have expected to see Bale on the right wing might be surprised at this, but he has shown it in the past that he can excel in any of those three positions behind the striker. And behind the hitman is where he should be slotting in as he can create and also score goals. He is rated 87 and has been marked as a center forward which should make it easy for him to get acquainted with this role. Isco is not far behind though, as he has a rating of 84. Both these players have great potential ratings if played in career mode.

Right Wing – Angel Di Maria

There are plenty of rumours which say that the Argentine star could be on his way out of Madrid despite having a great season, but the gaming fans need not worry as he is still accessible as a Real Madrid player. He is the one who can make the perfect moves on the right side of the pitch. A natural player on the right, Di Maria’s pace gives him a great advantage and he has an overall rating of 86.

Left Wing – Cristiano Ronaldo

Was this ever in doubt? Only one player in the entire game is rated above Ronaldo and we all know who that is. The perfect player that any team would want and he is rated 92 with a potential to reach 95 which is simply staggering. He can certainly help you win the Champions League title in the virtual world as well.

Striker – Karim Benzema

Karim Benzema has no real rival for his spot at least in the game as the second choice striker Alvaro Morata is only rated at 76, whereas Benzema is rated at 85. And if he shows consistency in the career mode, that rating can shoot up to 87.
