RELATED: Canceled PlayStation Games You Never Knew Existed

PlayStation Plus is like one massive compilation for those that buy into the system. There’s a lot to drive into, but it’s not exactly well-curated. Conversely, the upcoming standalone collections from big publishers like Square Enix have been meticulously crafted for fans though. These are the best complications on PS5, mostly through backward compatibility via PS4 collections.

8 Borderlands: The Handsome Collection

Borderlands: The Handsome Collection combines the second entry with Borderlands the Pre-Sequel into one package. It was the perfect way to build hype for the third main Borderlands game, which was still a ways off at the time. The best game, of the two, is Borderlands 2, which fully realized what Gearbox started with the original.

There are tons of classes to choose from and they each offer a reason to replay the campaign besides the wild amount of guns. Players can get sucked into that game alone for months, and then they can jump into the spinoff for more looter shooter mayhem.

7 Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy is exactly what fans of this series had been crying about for a long time. A new title would have been applauded as well, but this collection remastering the first three PS1 games was unreal. The developers, Vicarious Visions, of Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy did a lot to change the graphics and gameplay of the original games to ensure they meet modern standards.

Later on, Activision also released Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled which was a collection of racing spinoffs. After that, the publisher re-released these two collections together as one bundle, thus creating an even better deal for fans. It is an N. Sane deal for platforming and racing fans alike.

6 .hack//G.U. Last Recode

.hack//G.U. Last Recode is much more than a remaster of three classic RPGs from the PS2. As the third entry originally concluded on an ambiguous note, the developers course-corrected themselves with this bundle and added what is essentially a new fourth game on top of the three remasters.

That alone made replaying these games a must to get some better closure. It was a good collection but an odd one too since Bandai Namco skipped the first games in this series starting with .hack//Infection. Will that quadrilogy ever be re-released in a collection like the G.U. series too?

5 Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition

One game in Rockstar’s GTA series is more than enough to keep players happy for weeks. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition gives players more than just that, as the package includes remasters of the third game, Vice City, and San Andreas. Each open city is bigger than the last, offering tons of activities.

San Andreas has dynamic territory to conquer and RPG elements, making it the most demanding entry in the compilation. The trilogy was met with some bugs upon launch, but they have since been smoothed over for the most part.

4 Kingdom Hearts: All-In-One-Package

Kingdom Hearts: All-In-One-Package is, without a doubt, the absolute best collection that has ever been released on a PlayStation console. Every single HD remaster of Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts series is included, along with the newest main entry, Kingdom Hearts 3. The only missing game is the musical spinoff, Melody of Memory, which was released after this bundle came out.

Each game can take upwards of forty hours, giving players the most bang for their buck imaginable. Get this bundle, take a month off, and be absorbed by all the friendship and darkness within.

3 The Nioh Collection

The Nioh Collection combines the first two games into one neat little package. The best way to describe this series is samurai Dark Souls, but that is a bit redundant as they are so much more. There have been many Soulslike copycats trying to dethrone Dark Souls, and Nioh has come close to at least meeting fan expectations.

Each game is absolutely massive and the challenge level should keep players at it for a while. The only downside to recommending this collection is not knowing if people will still be online because co-op is almost a necessity for some of Nioh’s boss fights.

2 Quantic Dream Collection

Quantic Dream Collection pieces together some of the strangest and most decisive adventure games of the modern era. The collection includes Beyond: Two Souls, Detroit: Become Human, and Heavy Rain. Of the three, Heavy Rain is perhaps the most famous, or more like infamous since it has been memed to death. “Press X to Jason” is only one example but the dialogue is also worthy of being made fun of.

These games are ambitious. While they may not be the best titles ever made, they will have players discussing them, for better or worse. Get ready for a collection of wild rides.

1 Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection

For action-adventure fans, there are two collections worth mentioning here. Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection combines the first three games starring Nathan Drake as the lovable male counterpart to Lara Croft. Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection combines the fourth main entry with Nathan Drake along with Chloe’s solo debut, The Lost Legacy.

There’s no going wrong with either of these collections, but it is safe to say it is best to start with the origins. The only classic entry missing from these collections is Golden Abyss and, hopefully, Sony will rectify this mistake one day.
