Each version has some exclusive Pokemon that the other doesn’t have access to. It can be difficult for some gamers to pick which version they want to purchase. Hopefully, finding out which Underground Pokemon are available in each version may help them make a clear decision. These are the best Pokemon that are exclusive to one version and can only be caught in the Grand Underground.
8 Shining Pearl: Magby
Magby is the base form of the Fire-type Pokemon Magmar, and it can breathe flames at a temperature of 1100 °F (600 °C). When its flames are a yellow color, it means Magby is in excellent health, but if the Pokemon is exuding “smokey flames,” it is tired. A nice time in magma is enough to rejuvenate the Fire Pokemon. Once evolved into Magmar, it can evolve into Magmortar by holding a Magmarizer and being traded with another player.

For those trainers interested in catching Magby, it is weak against most Water-types like Kyogre or Palkia. The Fire Pokemon is also vulnerable to Ground and Rock moves from Pokemon like Groudon, Tyranitar, and Garchomp. Magby and its evolutions are great additions to the team as they are effective against various types of Pokemon, such as Bug, Steel, Grass, and Ice. One of its strongest attacks is Fire Blast, which can inflict a ton of damage to its rival.
Find it in the Volcanic Caves, Sandsear Caves, or Typhlo Cavern.
7 Brilliant Diamond: Elekid
Elekid is an Electric-type Pokemon and the base form of Electabuzz. Elekid has the Static ability, and it is known to play in thunderstorms. It struggles to contain its energy, so it often sneaks into people’s homes to use its electrical outlet. Once it evolves into an Electabuzz at level 30, it can evolve into an Electivire if it is traded with another player while holding an Electirizer.

To catch an Elekid, using a Ground-type Pokemon is best. A Pokemon such as Sandslash, Phanpy, or Cubone would do the trick. Elekid is for any players who want to capture a few Flying-type Legendary Pokemon such as Ho-oh and Lugia, as well as most other Flying- and Water-types. Its powerful Electric-type attacks can paralyze opponents, giving it an edge in battle.
Elekid can be found in Dazzling Cave, Whiteout Cave, Stargleam Cavern, or Glacial Cavern.
6 Brilliant Diamond: Gligar
Gligar is a Flying- and Ground-type Pokemon who can be great on a team. When a Gligar attacks a prey, it soundlessly rides the wind and aims directly for its face before injecting its target with a poison barb. It also has the potential to heal itself when it gets poisoned by an opponent. Gligar can evolve into Gliscor while holding a Razor Fang and leveling up during nighttime.

To catch a Gligar, a Pokemon trainer should be using a Water- or Ice-type Pokemon. Gligar is a must-have for players as it can make use of a variety of good Ground- or Flying-type moves. It gets the Same-Type Attack Bonus for fantastic moves like Earthquake.
Find Gligar in Rocky Cave, Swampy Cave, Big Bluff Cavern, Bogsunk Cavern, or Sunlit Cavern.
5 Shining Pearl: Sandshrew
This Pokemon is available after getting the National Dex. Sandshrew is a Ground-type Pokemon from the first generation, and it has the ability Sand Veil. It can evolve into Sandslash at level 22.
Sandshrew is particularly vulnerable to Pokemon that are of the Grass, Water, and Ice-types. However, it is effectively resilient against Rock, Poison, and Electric types such as Zapdos, Pikachu, Raikou, or Electivire. Trainers should consider having this Pokemon because of its high attack and defense, which both increase when it evolves.
Sandshrew calls these places home: Spacious Caves, Rocky Caves, Sandsear Caves, and Big Bluff Cavern.
4 Shining Pearl: Teddiursa
The adorable little bear Pokemon is a Normal-type. Teddiursa can utilize the abilities Quick Feet or Pickup. The teddy-bear Pokemon can create its honey by using fruit and a Beedrill’s pollen. It will also absorb some honey into its front paws for a quick snack on the go. Most importantly, it can evolve into Ursaring, who is a great team member.
Teddiursa and Ursaring are both fantastic additions to a trainer’s party, as they are immune to Ghost-type moves from Pokemon like Gengar, Spiritomb, and Mismagius. Ursaring is even better in long battles with its decent HP and high Attack.
Teddiursa can be found in any of the following places: Grassland Cave, Rocky Cave, Whiteout Cave, Icy Cave, Glacial Cavern, Sunlit Cavern, and Spacious Cave.
3 Brilliant Diamond: Seedot
After obtaining the National Dex, fans can capture Seedot in the Underground. This Grass-type Pokemon can often pass as a nut to other Pokemon and players. It can use the Early Bird and Chlorophyll abilities. It’ll evolve into Nuzleaf at level 14, and then, with exposure to a Leaf Stone, it can evolve into a Shiftry.
For gamers who would want Seedot, it is weak against most Flying- and Fire-type Pokemon. However, this underrated Pokemon is particularly strong once evolved into a Nuzleaf or Shiftry as it can defeat Psychic-type Legendary Pokemon like Lugia and Mewtwo.
Seedot can be found in Still-Water Cavern, Sunlit Cavern, Riverbank Cave, and Grassland Cave.
2 Brilliant Diamond: Growlithe
This Pokemon becomes available to players after gaining access to the National Dex. Growlithe is a Fire-type Pokemon whose personality resembles a cuddly dog. It is also extremely loyal to its trainer. Growlithe has three potential abilities: Intimidate, Justified, and Flash Fire. With the use of the Fire Stone, this puppy Pokemon can evolve into Arcanine.
Gamers who wish to add Growlithe to their party should use Water-, Ground-, or Rock-type attacks to weaken it before catching it with a Poke Ball. Growlithe is a great addition to a party due to its high Attack and powerful evolution Arcanine. Furthermore, if players wish to capture any Pokemon that are weak to Fire-type attacks, Growlithe is efficient against them.
Find Growlithe by heading to Spacious Cave, Volcanic Cave, Typhlo Cavern, or Sandsear Cave.
1 Shining Pearl: Vulpix
Fans of the cute fox Pokemon can only capture it once they have unlocked the National Dex. Vulpix is another Fire-type Pokemon and has the Flash Fire ability. This Pokemon can evolve into Ninetales if exposed to a Fire Stone like Growlithe.
To catch a Vulpix, Pokemon Trainers should be using any Water-, Rock-, or Ground-type Pokemon. Trainers should consider having this Pokemon as part of their team if they did not pick Chimchar at the beginning of the game. Its evolution, Ninetales, is one of the best Fire-type Pokemon available alongside Charizard, Magmortar, and Arcanine.
Vulpix can be found in Sandsear Cave, Volcanic Cave, Typhlo Cavern, or Spacious Cave.
