The game’s roster is split into play style variations such as Infighter, All-rounder, and Sharpshooter; among these, there are certainly a select few that players will want to use and upgrade as quickly as possible to clear missions efficiently. Here are some of the best mobile suits to upgrade first in SD Gundam Battle Alliance.
9 Nu Gundam
The Nu Gundam, also known as RX-93 V Gundam, first appeared in the Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Counter Attack animated film, which is a part of the Universal Century timeline inside the Gundam franchise.

The Nu Gundam serves as Amuro Ray’s ultimate machine that was designed from the ground up by the pilot to unlock his full potential. Unfortunately, the first and last time the machine saw combat was in the fight between Amuro Ray and Char Aznable in their chaotic space bout in the film. The Nu Gundam is fitted with several high-powered ranged damage options, such as a Hyper-beam bazooka, a beam rifle, and a powerful funnel system. What makes the Nu Gundam a smart early main Gundam is its ability to string together both its ranged and melee moves into powerful combos. Payers will start to find Nu Gundam blueprints in Break Mission 7D and True Mission 7A.
8 Strike Freedom Gundam
The Strike Freedom comes from the Gundam Seed anime series, which resides in the Cosmic Era timeline. It is the second designed mobile suit based on the original Freedom Gundam. Kira Yamato piloted the Strike Freedom for the first time in Gundam Seed Destiny episode 50, where he served as a multifaceted character in the show.

The Strike Freedom is a machine of tremendous power, having a wide variety of ranged options at its disposal. Aside from its advanced beam rifle and dual beam sabers, the Strike Freedom has two systems that, when used together, make it an unstoppable force on the battlefield in SD Gundam Battle Alliance. The full-burst system allows the Strike Freedom to fire from all cylinders powerful, steady energy beams. Paired with the dragoon system, which is similar to the Nu Gundam’s funnels, the Strike Freedom can attack multiple targets at incredible ranges with little effort making it a great partner for an infighter Mobile Suit. Players can find the blueprints to the Strike Freedom starting in the 6C Break Mission and 5B True Missions.
7 Wing Gundam Zero
One of the most popular Gundam anime in the west is Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, as the series was well received while it aired on the Toonami block on the Cartoon Network. The show followed several main protagonists Gundam pilots, the lead being Heero Yui, who piloted the Wing Gundam and its variations.
The Wing Zero is an immensely powerful Gundam that can be found in the Break Mission 5A; as an upgrade from its predecessor as it has adequate melee combos but truly excels in ranged combat with its twin buster rifles, the Wing Gundam Zero can turn a battlefield into a wasteland by itself.
6 Gundam Barbatos Lupus
Mobile Suit Gundam Iron-Blooded Orphans was met with high praise for its unique mobile suit design, animation, and unforgettable story. One of the flagship Mobile Suits in the series’ story is the Barbatos Lupus Gundam, the third iteration of the base model. The Barbatos was a legendary Gundam that reigned supreme during the Calamity War that took place three hundred years before the events in the series. This mecha’s specialty is close-range combat, using its above-average mobility and speed to completely overwhelm all opposition.
The Barbatos is equipped with a heavy-bladed weapon that can cleave enemies in half along with extensive wide arcing combos able to hit multiple enemies at once. If paired with a strong ranged support or an All-Rounder, Barbatos will make a strong main pick in SD Gundam Battle Alliance. Players can find the blueprint for the Barbatos Lupus in the 3A True Missions and 4B Break Missions.
5 Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai
First appearing in the manga spinoff series of Gundam Seed Destiny, Gundam Seed Vs. Astray, the Astray Red Frame Kai is the second version of the original Red Frame upgraded by the pilot. The Red Frame Kai is a top-of-the-line melee Mobile Suit with almost limitless power that utilizes bladed weapons and martial arts combat.
In terms of weaponry, the Red Frame Kai uses two bladed weapons modeled after Japanese Katana called Jibera Straight and the Tiger Pierce. The Gundam uses these blades to slice up enemy mobile suits with high attack speed. In addition, the Red Frame Kai is equipped with a Mobile Arms III weapon that has several transformations, such as a Bow that shoots energy projectiles and a giant sword weapon. The versatility of the Red Frame Kai is what makes it stand out amongst the rest and is sure to be a top contender. The Gundam Astray Red Frame Kai can be found in the 5A and 5C Break Missions.
4 Gundam 00 Raizer
The Gundam 00 Raiser can be found in the 6B Break Mission; this machine is the combined form of the GN 00 and the raiser support unit and one of the flagship Mobile Suits of the Mobile Suit Gundam 00 anime, the first series set in the Anno Domini timeline. The Mobile Suits within Gundam 00 are some of the most advanced machines in the franchise, using a unique power source known as GN drives or Solar Engines. These reactors give the Mobile Suits extraordinary powers that far exceed most Gundams from previous generations.
As a result, the Exia is one of the most formidable Mobile Suits in the series and is highly melee-focused, using multiple sword weapons attached to the unit on its back. What makes the 00 Raiser such a menace on the battlefield is its high melee damage. This mecha has wide sweeping attacks that can hit multiple targets repeatedly, making it a good add clear mobile suit.
3 Unicorn Gundam
The Unicorn Gundam comes from the anime of the same name, which is part of the Universal Century timeline and takes place more than a decade after the events of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime and One Year War.

The Unicorn Gundam is a technological marvel of incredible power. The Unicorn’s construction had one thought in mind: the complete elimination of Newtypes on the battlefield. Along with a large arsenal of weapons such as a beam gatling gun, the devastating beam magnum rifle, and hyper bazooka, the Unicorn is a great partner to All-rounders or Infighters. The Unicorn Gundam can be found in Break Mission 5B and 5D True Mission.
2 RX-78 Gundam
The RX-78, or “Grandpa Gundam” is the original Mobile Suit to debut in the Original Mobile Suit Gundam anime that serves as the spark that birthed the Gundam franchise. The RX-78 Gundam was pivotal in deciding the war between the Earth Federation and Zeon, and its power could not be matched by the ordinary Mobile Suits Zeon had at their disposal.

The RX-78 is the standard of which all future Gundams are modeled. It is equipped with a high-density beam rifle, a beam-coated shield, Hyper Bazooka, Beam Saber, and a Beam Javelin. Because of its high rate of fire, the RX-78 can snipe enemies from a decent range and stack damage very quickly. In SD Gundam Battle Alliance, the blueprints for this mecha can be found in True Mission 1A.
1 Turn A Gundam
Turn A is confirmed to be the most powerful Gundam ever created, appearing only once within the animated film that takes place in the Correct Century timeline, where the story describes this mecha as an ancient Gundam of unrivaled power that could destroy planets. The Turn A Gundam is equipped with dual beam sabers, the Gundam hammer, and a beam rifle; however, perhaps the most powerful and terrifying feature of this Gundam is the Moonlight Butterfly, which gives it a strong battle presence in SD Gundam Battle Alliance.
When using the Moonlight Butterfly, Turn A sends out thousands of nanomachines that take the shape of giant butterfly wings on the back of the Mobile Suit; the Turn A then charges toward a target, heavily damaging it. The Turn A Gundam can be found in the 5A Break Missions.
SD Gundam Battle Alliance is available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox series S and X, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.
