Halloween Kills stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode who decides to set a trap for her old enemy, the murderer Michael Myers. Those who enjoy the slasher then can find a lot of other similar horror movies of the same genre that they should also check out!
10 Psycho (1960)
Going back to the classics is never a bad idea, especially if their reputation is justified. Psycho is one of Alfred Hitchcock’s most famous films, and also one of his few horror pieces.
This story about a young woman Marion who steals a lot of money and makes the mistake of stopping at the Bates Motel is now legendary. It has gone on to inspire multiple sequels, including the TV show Bates Motel with Freddie Highmore. Anthony Perkins shines as Norman Bates in this movie, and Psycho has several legendary sequences, most notably the shower scene.
9 The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974)
The 1970s and 1980s were excellent decades for all horror fans since many of its slasher films were influential and are now legendary. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is perhaps even more brutal than Halloween Kills, especially considering when it was originally made.
Unlike other movies, this horror’s title speaks for itself and the viewers know in advance they can expect true carnage. What makes this horror movie even more frightening is that it was inspired by real events that happened not long before The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was made.
8 Friday The 13th (1980)
This movie works with the notion that Friday the 13th is an unlucky day. The protagonists of this movie learn this the hard way when a mysterious murderer stalks them at Crystal Lake. Another classic, Friday the 13th has cemented itself as one of the cornerstones of the slasher genre, and it is a must-watch for any Halloween fan.
Even though the movie didn’t cost a lot of money to make, as it had a budget of approximately 500 thousand dollars, it was a huge hit. Friday the 13th proved so popular that it started a horror movie franchise that would go on to spawn more than 10 entries.
7 A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)
This horror movie is one of the classics and will entertain everyone who enjoys imaginative slashers. The main antagonist, Freddy Krueger, has the ability to enter his victims’ dreams. If he manages to kill them in their dreams, they also die in real life.

A Nightmare On Elm Street was successful and spawned multiple sequels, but a lot of fans believe that the first entryis still the best part of the series. Whether that’s the case or not, it still has a lot to offer despite being made almost 40 years ago.
6 Child’s Play (1988)
Tom Holland (not the actor) directed multiple horror movies, and the vampire-themed Fright Night (1985) and the slasher Child’s Play are arguably his most famous pieces. This movie introduced a killer a lot of horror fans know – the murderous doll Chucky possessed by the spirit of a serial killer.
This movie is frightening even today, especially for those who aren’t all that fond of dolls. Like numerous successful slashers, this one also led to multiple remakes and sequels, including a TV show that started in 2021.
5 Candyman (1992)
Thanks to Tony Todd’s frightening turn as the titular Candyman, this horror movie works just as well today as it did in 1992. However, those who want to watch a modern version of this iconic slasher told from a different perspective shouldn’t miss out on the recent 2021 Candyman.
In both cases, the movies are full of tension and terrifying moments, as well as solid performances from all of the main actors. This movie is based on a short story by Clive Barker whose horror work inspired other movies as well (such as Hellraiser).
4 Scream (1996)
Unlike Halloween Kills, Scream doesn’t take itself too seriously. As an intelligent comedy, the Wes Caren film makes fun of the usual storytelling conventions of slasher movies. As a result, the audience not only laughs along with the mayhem but will also recognize references to multiple slasher flicks.

If someone wants to relax a little after watching Halloween Kills but still enjoy another slasher, Scream is a good choice. It makes some interesting choices, for example, it’s one of the few movies that has the courage to kill its apparent protagonist right at the start (and that isn’t really a spoiler).
3 I Know What You Did Last Summer (1997)
Teenage horror movies tend to not be as scary as those designed for an older audience. However, that’s not the case with this popular slasher movie. I Know What You Did Last Summer tells the story of a group of young people who do something bad and a year later, a mysterious murderer starts haunting them.
Thanks to the movie’s success, it spun two sequels and also served as an inspiration for parodies such as Scary Movie. It also stars a well-known cast, such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, or Ryan Philippe.
2 Hell Fest (2018)
A lot of slasher movies take place in a usual setting, such as a camp in a forest. But if the audience wants to try something new, they should check out Hell Fest. Its heroes, a group of friends, go to a horror-themed amusement park but they have no idea that a real murderer is about to hunt them.
While not as iconic as other older slashers, Hell Fest works with an original idea and also manages to create a lot of scary scenes. The story is made even more intense by the fact that other people don’t believe that something bad is really happening to the heroes.
1 Halloween (1978)
Unsurprisingly, the best movie to watch if someone hasn’t already done so is the original Halloween. The 1978 movie became a classic and without it, the slasher genre wouldn’t be what it is today.
John Carpenter was no stranger to creating bone-chilling horror movies, and Halloween is one of his best pieces. Plus, Jamie Lee Curtis became famous thanks to this movie and was the original scream queen. So when Curtis reprised her part years later, all horror fans were excited.
