As she has now signed a multi-picture deal with Netflix, this will see the actress make a huge comeback to the film scene after her hiatus. To cement the release of her latest film, Netflix’sown Falling For Christmas, this article highlights her best films during the early stint of her acting career.
7 Just My Luck (2006)
Still a teenager when she filmed Just My Luck, this was one of Lindsay Lohan’s first comedic adult roles. This is an immensely cheesy comedy starring Lohan as Ashley Albright, who is simply coasting through life. Alongside her is Chris Pine’s character, Jake Hardin, who wreaks havoc through the streets of New York City. Life is cruel for Jake, but then the tables turn and Ashley draws the short straw in life and acquires his bad luck instead.
The film itself received mostly negative reviews from critics, due to the storyline being fairly predictable. However, watching it back provides plenty of laugh-out-loud moments and gives an air of nostalgia for Lohan’s old film roles. This film also sees the film debut of the famous UK band, McFly, who play themselves as an up-and-coming band for some added fun.
6 The Parent Trap (1998)
Arguably still Lindsay Lohan’s most famous role, where she starred as both long-lost twins Annie and Hallie, The Parent Trap is a wild nostalgia trip. Separated at birth, the two girls find their way back to each other and seek to reunite with their estranged parents. Despite being a remake of the 1961 original film starring Hayley Mills, this 1998 version garnered rave reviews, with Lohan’s performance portraying both twins in two separate performances being widely celebrated.

With an iconic cast such as the late Natasha Richardson, Dennis Quaid, and Elaine Hendrix, Lindsay Lohan excelled in her performances alongside them. Her abilities as an actress ensured that The Parent Trap remains just as iconic as when it was first released. Taking the story internationally allowed Lohan to showcase a great English accent as Annie, as well as her typical American accent as Hallie, and show how she could become two different people.
5 Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen (2004)
The TV movie was released in the same year as Mean Girls. Mary, also known as Lola, is a teenage girl whose family moves from New York City to New Jersey much to her disgust. While trying to make friends, she gets cast in the lead role in the school play and makes an enemy of the school’s “it” girl, Carla, as a result. With an A-list cast such as Megan Fox, Adam Garcia, and Carol Kane, this is a very satirical melodramatic film that captures the reality of being a teenager.
Although this is not the best of Lohan’s filmography, it is still a fun watch. Its satirical script and nostalgic Disney feel make it enjoyable to watch. The great friendship dynamic between Lola and Ella in particular is the saving grace of the film.
4 Life Size (2000)
Another bizarre and silly storyline for Lindsay Lohan to throw herself into, but Life Size remains incredibly funny and a snapshot in time of her acting career. Starring alongside Tyra Banks, Lohan portrays the bereaved Casey who, instead of bringing her mother back to life, accidentally brings one of her dolls to life instead and chaos ensues.
Lohan and Banks’ chemistry is brilliant and very comedic as they tear across town with Banks as the now-alive doll wreaking absolute havoc. Although the film itself is perhaps slightly underwhelming, it remains a fun and light-hearted watch with a loving family at its center.
3 Freaky Friday (2003)
Jamie Lee Curtis and Lohan’s mother-daughter duo reigns supreme as Freaky Friday sees them accidentally switch bodies, leaving them forced to live each other’s lives. The film is complete comedy chaos as two polar opposite individuals must unite in trying to undo the curse that they have been put under. Released in 2003, it is still just as hilarious and as heart-warming as ever.

Both Curtis and Lohan’s acting abilities are the shining element of the film as they successfully embody each other’s characterizations and mannerisms. This family movie remains a long-time classic with much of the script remaining very quotable. With both actresses committed to a sequel, it will be exciting to see if the story of Anna and Tess Coleman will continue soon.
2 Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
This whacky sentient Volkswagen Beetle returned to the screen in 2005 in the most recent film of the Herbie franchise. Lindsay Lohan starred as Maggie, the daughter of an overprotective former racing driver, who picks out Herbie as her new car. Unbeknownst to them at the time, this infamous car ends up changing the course of Maggie’s life in this fast-paced sports comedy.
Being a direct sequel to the previous Herbie films, this release received mixed reviews from critics but was a hit with the young generation of children at the time. This was a very different role for Lindsay Lohan at the time, showing her portray a young racing driver, and her performance remains brilliant as she interacts effectively alone with an ‘alive’ car.
1 Mean Girls (2004)
Mean Girls remains a classic comedy for audiences around the world as Lindsay Lohan portrayed Cady Heron, a teenage girl moving to a new school from Africa to America. Arguably her most popular film other than The Parent Trap, her performance was fantastic, and it is fair to say that it maintained her ‘good girl’ image while actually being a more unique role for her at the time.

The film had an unexpected effect on a wide variety of audiences, with even those outside of its intended demographic enjoying the comedy.
