Surviving Warzone’s 150-player battlefield of Verdansk isn’t easy, and many a run has been saved by a player managing to get access to one of their custom Loadouts, a feature shared with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. One of the best guns to prepare a Loadout around is the versatile and effective M4A1 Assault Rifle, but the Primary is only one small part of an overall build. For those players looking to make the most of the weapon, here’s our guide to the best all-round Loadout for the M4A1.

Attachments and Perks

Attachments:

Barrel - Stock M16 Grenadier Optic - Operator Reflex Sight Stock - No Stock Underbarrel - Commando Foregrip Rear Grip - Stippled Grip Tape

A good all-round attachment build is all about maximizing gains while minimizing penalties. To that end, this combination of attachments offers increased Damage Range, Recoil Control, and Bullet Velocity, while also countering its own weaknesses in Aim Down Sight Speed and Stability.

Perks:

Blue - E. O. D Red -Overkill Yellow - Amped

The first half of this Perk build revolves around the incredible versatility of E.O.D, which gives multiple bonuses to help the Operator survive enemy explosives and equipment. The second half is the synergistic combo of Overkill and Amped, allowing the M4A1 Operator to carry a second Primary weapon, most likely a long-range rifle, and switch to it quickly when it’s needed.

 Secondary and Throwables

Potential Secondaries:

Kar 98k AX-50 HDR

With the Overkill Perk giving an Operator the opportunity to carry a second Primary weapon, it’s worth talking about what that weapon should be. Overall the best combination with an M4A1 is a long-range rifle, which can cover the distance that is the only thing the versatile AR struggles with. With its quick scope and precision, the Kar 98K is our pick, but players may also do well with the punchy AX-50, or the extreme-range HDR.

Throwables:

Lethal - Frag Grenade Tactical - Flash Grenade

It’s hard to go wrong with the classics, and when using a mobile, versatile AR like the M4A1 they’re the best thing to bring. While not flashy (well, except for the flash grenade), these two basic grenades have probably saved and taken more lives than any other piece of equipment in Call of Duty’s long history.
