6 Jedi Academy Texture Overhaul Updates The Look

Released back in 2003, it’s easy to see that the game looks pretty dated. Thankfully, there’s a mod that fixes that. Enter the Jedi Academy texture overhaul. This mod essentially updates the existing basic and blurry textures with more details and higher resolution graphics. It’s a facelift that makes the game prettier without fudging up its existing aesthetic.

Whilst some aspects of the game aren’t complete, and there is much to do, the author (known as Mr.Zz) has mentioned that he will continue to work on this project. Players can expect to see an even more polished look for this beloved classic.

5 Star Wars: For The Republic Is A Blast

Despite being known for its awesome lightsabre combat, the game is classed as a 3rd person shooter. However, one mod out there attempts to bring back the shooter aspect and goes all out guns blazing.

For the Republic features a brand-new campaign where players enter the shoes of a clone trooper taking on the Separatists and their ‘clankas.’ Taking place on recognizable planets such as Coruscant, Utapau, and Kashyyk, players will go up against various droids and Sith warriors. The player’s job is to protect the local populations and serve honorably against overwhelming odds. For the Republic!

4 Revenge Of The Jedi Reimagines The Original Trilogy

Revenge of the Jedi is a total conversion of the entire Jedi Academy campaign. In this reimagining, Old Ben Kenobi survives his duel against Darth Vader, and Yoda has started a new Jedi temple on Dagobah. The story begins with both Luke and Leia heading to Dagobah to be trained by Obi-Wan in the ways of the force.

Whilst complete fan fiction, the game is extensive and offers a large number of custom assets. The game also looks great, featuring fantastic character models, which provide a nice fresh take on an alternative galaxy far, far away.

3 Escape: Yavin IV Continues Jedi Academy

The unofficial sequel to Jedi Academy, Escape: Yavin IV takes place immediately after the events of Jedi Academy. Following the ‘dark side’ ending in which the player stole the scepter of Ragnos, the player is confronted by a new Sith lord and is discarded, left to rot in an isolated cell. Having learned the error of their ways and meditating for four years, the player manages to escape. Thus begins an epic campaign of revenge and retribution.

Featuring 13 levels and over 10-14 hours of gameplay, the mod is extensive and feels like a stand-alone game on its own. Each level features 3-8 varying objectives ensuring that gameplay never feels stale. Moreover, a recent update known as the ‘Lost Missions’ adds 35 levels for the player to immerse themselves in. May the force be with you.

2 Star Wars Movie Battles II Is The Ultimate Experience

1 Knights Of The Force 2.1 Is A Monolith In Video Game Modding

One of the most ambitious (and unfinished) works in Star Wars, if not gaming history, is Knights of the Force 2.1. The mod, in essence, is a total conversion mod that attempts to bring together all the locales and characters from the entire Star Wars saga, from the movies to the earlier stories, including KOTOR and TV shows. Calling that a massive undertaking is an understatement and the mod is every Star Wars nerd’s ultimate fantasy.

The mod features over 190 maps from all the Star Wars eras and features custom maps. It also features 240 characters that are playable or can act as NPCs (including bounty hunters and Mandalorians). It also introduces 20 new weapons as well as over 80+ unique hilts for single, dual, and double-sided lightsabers. The game is extensive and although unfinished, players can certainly look on and watch the mod’s progress with great interest.
