RELATED: Skyrim: Creation Club Mods That Break The Lore

Like most games that have PC ports, Monster Hunter: Rise has an energetic modding community that has worked hard to make quality of life improvements to the game as well as adding mechanics to better tailor it to their tastes. All the discussed mods can be found on Nexus Mods.

Updated May 26th, 2022 by Russ Boswell: Monster Hunter Rise has seen its own revival thanks to the PC port and an active modding community. There’s even been an increase in activity thanks to the impending release of the Sunbreak DLC set to drop in late June. There’s no better time to jump into the Monster Hunter Rise adventure, and players can even get handy “skips” for the Hub missions by playing through the Singleplayer experience and overcoming some license tests. Those that are jumping into the expansive adventure for the first time can make their journey even better by taking a look at some of the best Monster Hunter Rise mods available. To better showcase some of these great mods, the following list has been updated with more entries.

11 Drop Rates Enhanced

Although Monster Hunter Rise is an incredibly entertaining game, there’s no denying that the endgame grind can be a bit overwhelming. Players that are looking to build the best armors and weapons will need particular parts from each monster they hunt and these parts can have a soul-crushingly low drop rate. This can cause players to find themselves stuck in a seemingly endless loop, hunting the same monster over and over in hopes of getting the rare drop they need.

Thankfully, there are some mods out there that can help with the agonizing drop rates on some items. This mod from Korayshin will need up a player’s drop rates, even in multiplayer (but only for themselves). This can be done in a balanced (slightly buffed) or unbalanced (very buffed) way.

10 Remove Monster Kill-Cam Plus Stylish Slo-Mo Finishers

One of the annoying things about hunting marks in Monster Hunter Rise is that players only have a certain amount of time to carve items from their prey before they are forcefully whisked back to town. The timer is fairly robust at 60 seconds but some players find themselves irked by the Monster Kill-Cam that plays a small camera-locking cutscene once a monster is felled. This coincides with the timer, taking precious time away from hunters that are trying to scoop up their rewards.

To solve this issue, modder Bolt removed the long-winded action shot and instead implemented a Slo-Mo-style final hit that shows much more action and decreases the amount of time it takes before players can accurately start collecting their loot.

9 Clarity Shader

There are tons of mods available for Monster Hunter Rise that make the game a much more enjoyable experience. Players can download new HUDs, DPS meters, additional frameworks, and even things that allow them to see a monster’s health and weaknesses. But some mods do very simplistic things that can alter the game way more than players may assume. A great example of this is the Clarity Shader from modder Revonlieke aka SebastianJSL. The Clarity Mod is a simple shader pack that can greatly enhance the clarity of Monster Hunter Rise overall by smoothing out some of the horizontal lines and removing the obnoxious blur effect that shadows some of the details hidden within MHR’s backgrounds and character models.

This simple fix will give players a much crisper look at the environments and monsters around them.

8 Reframework Is An Upgrade And Modding Foundation For Monster Hunter: Rise

The modding communities that surround most games have a mod like this. It’s a foundational mod that makes some tweaks to the game while allowing for other mods to be built upon it. In the case of Monster Hunter: Rise, it’s the REFramework mod by praydog. Many other Rise mods require REFramework to function properly, and the mod makes a few other upgrades to the game. It also gives other modders tools with which they can craft their own mods.

Namely, REFramework makes fixes to prevent crashing from Reshade mods and download link libraries as well as fixes to free cam mods, timescales, field of view, and VR.

7 Charm Editor And Item Cheat Allows Players To Customize Their Loot

Sometimes, you just want to have some say over what items you have and what they can do. The Charm Editor and Item Cheat mod by Fexty does that…within reason. This mod allows players to edit charms in terms of rarity, skills, skill levels, and slots. It allows players to spawn an infinite amount of items in their inventory and box, and it allows players to edit the amount of Zenny and Kamura Tickets they have.

The limits on charm editing come from the fact that the game checks to see if a charm is of legal specifications. This is largely due to Monster Hunter: Rise offers a multiplayer experience, and certain charm setups are beyond the pale.

6 The MHR Overlay Places Much-Needed Monster Info On The UI

This is a mod that adds several desired elements to the game’s user interface. Among them are the name, size, current health, and max health for both large and small monsters. It also displays how much time has elapsed on the current quest and information on other players such as their name and damage.

This mod also allows players to customize these elements on their UI, so there is plenty of flexibility innate in this mod. This mod comes from Nexus users GreenComfyTea, cursecat, and coavins.

5 RiseTweaks Unlocks The Game’s Frame Rate Cap

RiseTweaks by user MistressAshai is another quality of life improvement for the game that integrates several smaller but much-appreciated alterations to the game that improve on its shortcomings. All of these are in relation to the graphical display quality of the game.

The mod does two things specifically: it unlocks the 30 fps framerate cap in cutscenes, and it allows the image quality to be customized to specific settings beyond the 150% preset maximum.

4 Monster Weakness Icon Indicator Shows Players How To Fight Monsters

This is another mod that helps hunters get more information on the monster they are currently tackling. It adds an elemental weakness symbol so that players can know what kind of weapons and attacks to dish out.

This is an overall simple yet significant improvement to the game that makes tackling monsters far less stressful and easier within reason. This mod comes from user celluloid.

This is another straightforward yet fun mod for Monster Hunter: Rise. It gives the in-game shop all legal items (which is to say, all non-mod items). This makes acquiring these items far easier and less of a scavenger hunt.

While the scavenger hunt is half the fun for many players, some just want to be able to go ahead and acquire the items they desire. This mod comes from user dtlnor.

2 The Spiribird Summoner Lets Players Call Upon Their Own Spiribird

Spiribirds are a type of bird that can be found in the various zones of Monster Hunter: Rise. They provide a stat boost to players with their presence due to the pollen they emit. These are permanent boosts, making Spiribirds highly beneficial animals to encounter.

This mod allows players to summon their own Spiribird to customize their own stat boosts. The uploader, ErickSantos, says that this mod was inspired by a now-deleted mod called “Prism Spiribirds to the Start of All Quests.” The Spiribird Summoner mod comes to us from ErickSantos, Shadowy, alphaZomega, and praydog.

1 Infinite Wirebugs Gives Players Total Wirebug Freedom

The Wirebug is a zipline-like creature that hunters can use in Monster Hunter: Rise. Hunters can use this item to traverse the landscape in new ways, but there is a Wirebug Gauge that limits how much the hunter can do with the Wirebug at the time.

The Infinite Wirebugs mod by Fylex makes it so that the Wirebug Gauge never runs out, and the player can use the Wirebug in new and exciting ways. The effects can seem a bit silly, but the mod is a very fun addition to the game.
